The Foundation
Decades of Experience. One Clear Conclusion.
Decades of research.
One deployable system.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy has long been limited to fixed hospital locations– requiring patients to travel to treatment. However, in trauma and time-sensitive conditions, there is a critical time window for affecting outcomes. Decades of real-world application point to a simple truth: Treatment needs to reach the patient earlier.

Dr. Keith Van Meter, a pioneer in hyperbaric medicine, spent decades treating severe trauma and diving-related injuries. His work consistently reinforced a critical insight: earlier access to HBOT can change outcomes.

Mobile HBOT wasn't
built overnight.
It took a century of science, iteration, and one founding vision to make it real.
Early hyperbaric oxygen chambers appear in hotels and field hospitals for variety of ailments. Pressurized air treats respiratory illness during the Spanish Flu, proving the potential of this concept still in its' infancy.
1900sIn the 1950s, Dutch cardiac surgeon Ite Boerema conceived the idea of flooding the body's tissues with extra oxygen – working with the Royal Dutch Navy to pioneer surgery inside a hyperbaric chamber. The results were so successful that a surgical hyperbaric unit was built at the University of Amsterdam.
1950sIn the maritime industry, deck decompression chambers are utilized for commercial divers offshore. The recovery benefits become standard practice for treatment of trauma.
1970'sDr. VanMeter's improvised trailer setup proves critical in saving lives of injured commercial dive patients who were victim to critical accidents in remote locations.
1979Dr. VanMeter's swine trials extensively prove the impact of HBOT sustaining life without blood.
1980sHBOT receives formal clinical approval for growing number of traumas and gains nationwide acceptance. Chamber design standardizes and hyperbaric treatment enters mainstream global medicine.
2000sHYPERVAN is founded to realize the 40+ year vision of Dr. VanMeter. The mission: prove the feasibility and effectiveness of mobile hyperbaric treatment in the emergent field – packaging the technology into a certified ambulance platform.
2016Early design engineering begins. The team starts translating the concept into a purpose-built vehicle platform. Multiple challenges are tackled from pressure vessel mass limitations to regulatory processes.
2019Global patents awarded. HYPERVAN's technology and vehicle architecture are protected across international markets.
2023Third-generation design solidified. Years of iteration converge into the definitive HYPERVAN platform – refined, validated, and ready for production.
2025First certified vehicle deliveries. HYPERVAN units reach operators, marking the transition from development to deployed technology.
2026EMT Pilot Program launches. HYPERVAN enters pre-hospital emergency workflows, putting mobile hyperbaric treatment in the hands of first responders.
2027Early hyperbaric chambers appear in hotels and field hospitals. Pressurized air treats respiratory illness during the Spanish Flu – crude, but the concept is proven.
1900sIn the 1950s, Dutch cardiac surgeon Ite Boerema conceived the idea of flooding the body's tissues with extra oxygen – working with the Royal Dutch Navy to pioneer surgery inside a hyperbaric chamber. His results were so successful that a large operating hyperbaric chamber was built at the University of Amsterdam. Boerema's team was the first to treat Gas Gangrene with HBOT, and his landmark publication demonstrated that life could be sustained in the near-complete absence of circulating red blood cells.
1950sVanMeter pioneers deck decompression chambers for maritime workers – bringing pressurized treatment directly to offshore crews for the first time.
1979The first mobile HBOT unit is improvised on a trailer. VanMeter's swine trials establish mobile hyperbaric treatment as scientifically viable.
1980sHBOT receives formal clinical approval. Chamber design standardizes and hyperbaric therapy enters mainstream medicine.
2000sHYPERVAN is founded. The vision: certified, mobile hyperbaric treatment in the field – faster and closer than anything before it.
